About the retreat - starts at 9.30am & finishes at 11am

This fun and magical Easter Special Storytelling Yoga class is for all chidren aged 5-10 years. The yoga will be themed around storytelling to make this class fun, imaginative, interactive and exciting as we go through a journey from start to finish, making fun sound effects whilst we have upbeat music, a bit of dance and acting involved as we all become the characters in the story, whilst still incorporating yoga. All mats and props will be included so you don't have to bring anything for the yoga - parents can also take part so there will be mats for adults, and mats for children. There will also be a little Easter surprise at the end that children can bring away with them.

About the instructor

Megan did her Yoga Teachers Training in Rishikesh at a school called Yogpeeth by some of the best Yoga teachers in India. The tools learnt from this spiritual country add a magical touch to these classes with a traditional approach to yoga, whilst still keeping things fun, relaxed and adaptable to everyone. She is also a professional Fine Artist with a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art, a Diploma in Art and Design and years of experience with teaching art to children and adults and can teach sculpture, craft, drawing, painting and mixed-media. She specialises in oil painting landscapes, but can also teach portrait drawing, abstract art and drawing/ painting animals. Megan has worked with children in education from ages 5 through to 18 years. She also has great experience with working with children with special needs with previous experience in a residential school (mainly working with those with Autism).

Where is the venue?

The Old School can be found on google maps by clicking this link here which has the google coordinates. Or, just head towards the Christ & St. Marys Church as the hall is right next to it. It will look like an old school hall building and will have a little road that takes you around the back of it to its carpark, however some people find it easier to park along the bridge just up from the Dukes Head Inn as the carpark to the hall is a little awkward to drive in and out of. The bridge is very wide and you can park right next to the pavement and leave your car there for the day and it's about a 5 minute walk to the hall from here. Never panic if you are struggling to find the hall - just give me a ring on 07826 793126. You will also be emailed details of the venue when you book. To avoid any stress, it's always best to allow plenty of time and arrive a little bit early. The address is:

Old School Hall, Front St, Armathwaite, Carlisle CA4 9PF

What do I need?

If your child needs anything for support such as an inhaler, medication, ear defenders (for sound sensitivity) or anything else that offers comfort, please bring them. If your child has any form of learning difficulty, please get in touch before booking to ensure this event is suitable and to discuss adaptations. There will be sounds, music and an aurora light projecting onto the ceiling, however, alterations can be arranged to cater for all children to the best of our capabilities.

What should I bring?

Comfortable clothing for the yoga is important to allow free movement. Extra layers is also important to bring in case it's chilly. The hall will have heating, but it's always good to have backup. Please remember to inform us of any medical conditions when booking including food allergies. Bring a water bottle for your children to stay hydrated (there will be drinking water at the hall to refill). You won't need to bring a yoga mat or anything for the yoga as this will be provided. If you want to use your own however, you are more than welcome to. Parents can take part in the yoga or help aid your child during the session. I ask that all parents stay in the hall with their children during this session.

Is this suitable for my child?

If you have any questions at all, or if you are unsure whether or not the event is right for your child, please get in touch before booking. We try to adapt and cater the class to suit most children, however if your child has any disability, injury, recently recovered from surgery, or struggle physically with moving / walking, you must get in touch before booking so that we can assess if this event is suitable and safe for your child. If you or your child struggles with loud noises or flashing lights, please let us know beforehand so we can discuss if there are ways in which we can make adaptations to allow you and your child to feel comfortable at this event. There will be an aurora star light which projects light on the ceiling and the instruments used for sound effects can be overwhelming for those sensitive to sound. Please bring ear-defenders if your child finds loud noises uncomfortable as they can still visually enjoy the animated yoga class and story telling.

Health & Safety

It is your responsibility when booking that you inform us of any allergies, medical conditions or physical disability (Physical disability is defined as a “limitation on a person's physical functioning, mobility, dexterity or stamina” that has a 'substantial' and 'long-term' negative effect on an individual's ability to do normal daily activities.) You and your child take part at this event at your own risk as everything has been risk assessed and the yoga instructor is a qualified yoga instructor, but all forms of movement can have at least a small risk of injury depending on the persons body, health or past injuries. Instructions during activities will be given clearly, with adaptations and variations to suit different people, but your child is your responsibility at this event and we hold no responsibility for any inuries that occur at this class.

Refund policy

Tickets at this retreat are non-refundable due to limited numbers and overhead costs. You can give your ticket to somebody else however, should you be unable to attend - please make sure they let us know of any medical conditions beforehand and by allowing them to book, they agree to the terms and conditions of this retreat. We will also need their full name and contact details, should we need to get in touch.
