About the workshop - starts at 4pm - finishes at 5.30pm

Discover a whole new outlook on life with this mindful workshop and learn useful techniques and practices that help you to relax, unwind and remove stress from your body and mind. In this relaxing and gentle workshop, we will be learning about multiple breathing techniques that originate from thousands of years ago in India. There will also be other exercises we will be learning that put your mind into a deep state of relaxation, whilst still engaging your focus so that you can stay in the present moment without your mind getting distracted. A dreamy, guided meditation will also take place towards the second half of the workshop before we finish with a healing sound bath using traditional instruments that include a gong, tibetan bowls, a drum and other intruments.

About the instructor

Megan did her Yoga Teachers Training in Rishikesh at a school called Yogpeeth by some of the best Yoga teachers in India. The tools learnt from this spiritual country add a magical touch to these classes with a traditional approach to yoga, whilst still keeping things fun, relaxed and adaptable to everyone. She is also a professional Fine Artist with a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art, a Diploma in Art and Design and years of experience with teaching art to children and adults and can teach sculpture, craft, drawing, painting and mixed-media. She specialises in oil painting landscapes, but can also teach portrait drawing, abstract art and drawing/ painting animals.

Where is the venue?

Currock Community Centre can be found on google maps by clicking here. The address is: Lediard Ave, Currock, Carlisle CA2 4BS and has it's own carpark just across the road from the building next to the river, or you can park on the road across from the front of the building. The centre is at the bottom of Lediard Avenue and you will see two big metal gates open when you arrive - go through those gates and towards the door to the building that will be open. If you struggle to find the centre, please give us a call on 07826793126

If it's your first time at this centre, please allow plenty of time to get here - the workshop will start at 4pm

What do I need?

Wear comfortable clothing as we will be sitting and laying down during this workshop. Extra layers is also important to bring in case it's chilly. The hall will have heating, but it's always good to have backup. If you need an inhaler, you must bring it to the workshop. If you take any medication during the time of this retreat, please remember to bring it and inform us of any medical conditions when booking. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day (there will be drinking water and glasses at the hall but a bottle is less likely to spill fluid). There will be mats, blankets and cushions at this workshop, however please try and bring your own cushions and blankets or anything else that helps you to stay comfortable on the floor of the hall, should we get a high number and run out of spares.

Is this suitable for me?

If you have any questions at all, or if you are unsure whether or not the workshop is right for you, please get in touch before booking. We try to adapt and cater the retreat to suit most people, however if you have any disability, injury, recently recovered from surgery, or struggle physically with moving / walking, you must get in touch before booking so that we can assess if the workshop is suitable and safe for you as we may be able to come up with adaptations that allow you to participate still. There are chairs at the hall if you prefer to sit during the relaxation rather than lay down. If you struggle with loud noises, strong smells or flashing lights, please let us know beforehand so we can discuss if there are ways in which we can make adaptations to allow you to feel comfortable at this event. There will be a diffuser with essential oils, an aurora star light which projects light on the ceiling and the instruments used for sound healing can be overwhelming for those sensitive to sound.

It is normal to feel a lot of different emotions during any relaxation/meditation event so please don't worry if you feel like you need to cry - this can happen to some people and it is nothing to be embarrassed by. It's actually a good sign because you are releasing bottled up emotion that needed to come out - you are in a safe and non-judgemental space.

Health & Safety

It is your responsibility when booking that you inform us of any allergies, medical conditions or physical disability (Physical disability is defined as a “limitation on a person's physical functioning, mobility, dexterity or stamina” that has a 'substantial' and 'long-term' negative effect on an individual's ability to do normal daily activities.) You take part at this event at your own risk as everything has been risk assessed and the yoga instructor is a qualified yoga instructor, but all forms of movement can have at least a small risk of injury depending on the persons body, health or past injuries. Instructions during activities will be given clearly, with adaptations and variations to suit different people, but only you can feel what is right for your body and where your own limits are. It is important you do not push beyond what feels right for you. For relaxation and meditation workshops or retreats, we will be in the same position potentially for a long period, so it is vital that you are comfortable and not in pain. Inform the instructor and we can try and make alterations for you. If you are prone to blood clots due to a condition, then please bring compression socks to wear and let us know.

Refund policy

Tickets at this retreat are non-refundable. You can give your ticket to somebody else however, should you be unable to attend - please make sure they let us know of any medical conditions beforehand and by allowing them to book, they agree to the terms and conditions of this workshop. We will also need their full name and contact details.
