About the event

Enjoy this enchanting event at the Wigton Market Hall with a special guest visiting who is a qualified hypnotherapist. Expect to feel relaxed and refreshed, ready for the evening as we get you all comfy in blankets and cushions before we begin on a journey to deep relaxation.

What to expect?

Hypnotherapy

The first hour will be a hypnotherapy session with a qualified hypnotherapist Michelle from Crystals & More who will be guiding us through a journey to higher self. If you'd like to understand a little bit more about hypnotherapy, here are some words from Michelle:

"It is a very pleasant and relaxing state where one's awareness is heightened, and contrary to popular belief you will not lose awareness or control. It is in this trance like state that the conscious part of our mind is bypassed and we have more access to the subconscious.

Hypnotherapy uses this trance like state to bypass the conscious mind and access the subconscious directly. You may find that you fall asleep during a hypnotherapy session due to being so beautifully relaxed. This is quite common; your subconscious mind still hears everything it needs to. Your only focus needs to be concentrating on relaxing." Find out more about her services at www.crystalsandmore.co.uk

Sound Bath

The second hour of the event will be the sound bath (sound healing) - this will start with shamanic drumming which is very grounding and stimulating within the body and mind, but also relaxing. Then we finish with the soothing melodies of the Tibetan bowls which will send you into a deep world of tranquil.

What is shamanic drumming?

Drum therapy is an ancient approach that uses rhythm to promote healing and self-expression. From the shamans of Mongolia to the Minianka healers of West Africa, therapeutic rhythm techniques have been used for thousands of years to create and maintain physical, mental, and spiritual health.

What are the benefits of shamanic drum healing?

According to Soul Rhythm African Drumming, "The reason rhythm is such a powerful tool is that it permeates the entire brain. Vision, for example, is in one part of the brain, speech another, but drumming accesses the whole brain. The sound of drumming generates dynamic neuronal connections in all parts of the brain even where there is significant damage or impairment such as in Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)."

Not only does the drum spark neural connections, but it also grounds us and connects us to the Earth. This can have a centering and stabilizing effect on the listener.

Drumming is very powerful, and can seem intrusive at first because of its dominance, but when you allow the sound in, it can shift bottled up tension and pain from your body and mind, making it easier to let go and heal. It captures the minds attention, making it difficult to wander and overthink, keeping you focused on the sound which allows space to relax the brain. There is no right or wrong way to experience a sound bath, it is unique to everyone and changes over time the more sound baths you have.

What are Tibetan bowls?

Sound therapy with Tibetan singing bowls is an ancient form of regeneration. The first bowls were made from an alloy of various metals and were used already 6000 years ago in the Far East. Tibetan singing bowls area a mysterious acoustic phenomenon, which was discovered by “spiritual tourists” in the Himalayas and after the Chinese invasion of Tibet appeared also in Europe and the USA.

The sound of Tibetan singing bowls and the gong harmonizes and allows deep relaxation of both sides of the brain. It stimulates stress relief on all levels and the elimination of toxins from the body. After sound therapy emotions are calm and the mind clearer, and the sound vibrations have effect on the body after the singing bowls have been played on it.

How do they heal?

Besides their traditional use for meditation, Tibetan singing bowls are used for deep relaxation and muscle regeneration, to relieve pain in the joints, muscles and shoulders, to ease pain related to sciatica, the digestive system, headaches and migraine or spine injuries, to improve circulation, release tensions or blockages, to open the energy flow, eliminate the toxins from the body. When we relax with the sounds of Tibetan bowls or the gong, our concentration improves and our emotional tensions and blockages are eased. The sound with its vibrations can ease mental or emotional pain (low self-esteem, worries, fear, anger, anxiety, depression, insomnia). Tibetan singing bowls and their unique tones are used to stabilise blood pressure, to ease asthma related issues, to renew the functioning of the adrenal gland, to open and stabilise the meridians and to improve the synaptic responses in our brain. They also help children with hyperactive disorders and they stimulate the immune system.

What do I need?

You just need to bring comfy, warm clothing as you will be laying down or sitting for 2 hours (you are welcome to of course move/change position when you need to) - there will be blankets, cushions and mats, however depending on how many numbers we get, we advice that you bring cushions/blankets/bean bags - whatever is comfortable for you in case the spare get used up. Make sure you don't drink lots of fluid right beforehand as having a full bladder makes it very difficult to enjoy the experience to the fullest. There will be a small window half-way for a toilet break and a stretch/move around. Please also make sure your phones are off or on silent to avoid any disruptions during the session.

Where do I park?

There is a carpark outside of the Wigton Market Hall which is a pay and display carpark (although it will be evening, we can't gurantee you wont get a warden check the carpark). Alternatively, you can park in any other carpark in Wigton or along a road and walk as the hall is right in the middle of the town, so easy access on foot.

We look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions about this event, please don't hesitate to get in touch:
